From Mona Lisa to Marilyn Monroe, pinup icons fascinate because no one can explain the ethereal nature of their beauty. It comes down to creating magic. Bettie was the action hero of pin-up. Although the fantasy world of fetish/bondage existed in some form since the beginning of time, Bettie reigns as the iconic figurehead, for no star existed in this realm before her. Marilyn had her predecessors, Bettie did not. It was a privilege to know and love her.

Rich Mullins; one of the only modern Christians I am aware of that actually makes following Jesus seem like a good thing. He was a pretty amazing person on all counts…. He also had no problem with bashing at the bullshit of American culture and ‘christianity’, without losing sight of the Jesus he knew didn’t have fancy cars or carry around country flags. As a model, he and his friends took St. Francis, calling themselves the Kid Brothers of St. Frank. Don’t know why he popped into my head just now…
